This summer I interned at NBC for MSNBC Chief Washington Correspondent Norah O'Donnell. It was hands down the best internship experience I've ever had - I got to do everything from researching her stories and helping with her scripts to going to on-location shoots, helping produce segments, and I even got to help Norah report from the Sonia Sotomayor Senate hearings. Definitely a great look at the production side of broadcast journalism and a very beneficial networking opportunity to open doors for a future career in the media!

For nine days in July, I will be an ASA (Alumni Section Assistant) at the Hugh O'Brian Youth (HOBY) World Leadership Congress (WLC). Sophomores in high school who have shown leadership skills are chosen to attend a seminar in their state; then certain students are chosen from those seminars to attend the world seminar. It is held at GW and we'll be living in Thurston for a week and a half. We do a lot of really amazing activities, leader building, personal growth, and empowerment exercises, and it is an amazing experience for the sophomores. As a counselor, I will be in charge of a section of students, along with my Section Leader, and we have the task to run the Amazing Race activity, among other responsibilities. If you want more information about HOBY, check out the website at www.hoby.org.
